5 Sneaky Credit Card Fees That Could Be Costing You Money

Credit card fees certainly aren’t anything shocking or new. Most cardholders are aware, for example, that if they make a late payment, they’ll be charged extra money for it. Unfortunately, though, it’s not uncommon for unsuspecting consumers to be caught off guard by other types of credit card fees that they simply aren’t expecting – particularly as credit card issuers increasingly rely on these fees in the years following the Credit CARD Act of 2009 and the economic recession. mobile payments

2015: The year that mobile payments will take off.

Familiarity and usage have both doubled since 2013.

This begs the question: What will it take to truly bring mobile payments and mobile wallets into the mainstream in 2015? According to CMB, security and rewards are two of the biggest drivers of mainstream consumer adoption.

Part 2: Why Small Businesses Should Accept Cryptocurrency…NOW

This is Part 2 of a two-part series. For Part 1, click here.

Still, even with all those advantages in mind, many small business owners may choose to wait until cryptocurrency fully reaches the mainstream. We can certainly appreciate this apprehension, but on the other hand, how far does anyone really get without stepping out of their comfort zone? The time to start accepting cryptocurrency is now, and here’s why:

An exclusive limited-time offer for merchants.

Cryptocurrency is the future of payments, offering merchants and shoppers a low-risk, low-cost alternative to credit cards. And while it’s natural for people to be skeptical of any big changes that disrupt the existing systems with which they are familiar, we think former U.S. treasury secretary Larry Summers put it best in a 2014 interview with the Wall Street Journal:

“The people who rejected the Internet as a curiosity for scientists were on the wrong side of history, the people who rejected digital photography as really an artificial thing were on the wrong side of history, and the people who felt that non-gimmicky tennis racquets were made with wood were on the wrong side of history. So it seems to me that the people who confidently reject all the innovation here [in new (cryptocurrency-based) payment and monetary systems] are on the wrong side of history.”

How Cryptocurrency Can Help Merchants Reduce Shopping Cart Abandonment

This year, shoppers will abandon approximately $4 trillion worth of merchandize in online shopping carts, according to Business Insider. Over the past few years, shopping cart abandonment rates have risen steadily – up from 69% in 2011 to 74% in 2013 – and are expected to keep growing as more and more people do their shopping online.

Needless to say, this is a huge point of concern for online merchants. And while there are a number of ways to recover these potentially lost transactions – Business Insider reports that 75% of shoppers who abandon their carts say they plan to return to the website or store to make a purchase – wouldn’t it be nice to prevent shoppers from walking away in the first place?

White Paper | Cryptocurrency: The Solution to Common Transaction Problems

Read the white paper here

The future of online shopping is changing in a myriad of ways, with cryptocurrency leading the way. Since its inception, Bitcoin – the most popular type of cryptocurrency – has grown rapidly, with the number of user accounts expanding from 765,000 to 5.3 million from 2013 to 2014.

Cryptocurrency promises solutions to a number of pain points among both merchants and consumers, so it’s no wonder prominent news sources such as The Economist have claimed that the technology behind it could “support a revolution in the way people own and pay for things.” That being said, there are several barriers standing in the way of mainstream adoption.

Fortunately, thanks to Reddit, BitcoinTalk and other online cryptocurrency communities, we’ve received a lot of great feedback – specifically on our Sign to Mine (S2M) mining algorithm. We’ve taken all of this valuable feedback into careful consideration and have decided to say goodbye to Sign to Mine and hello to a new and improved mining algorithm that we’re calling Proof of Knowledge.
